![]() Established in 2005, Lent Event is a community movement committed to calling people in wealthier nations such as Australia to empower their overseas neighbours enduring extreme poverty. Lent Event challenges communities and individuals to re-evaluate what they value in this world and to wisely use the resources entrusted to humankind for the benefit of all. Lent Event invites us to shape our lives more fully with God's love and compassion for people who are very poor. The Lent Event website has been designed to offer a wide range of resources to help congregations, bible study groups, small groups, families and individuals to enter into the season of Lent in a new and exciting way and includes: 1. 2. • Call to worship via DVD • Share their stories to help people of all ages gain a deeper understanding of what life is like for our partners and what God is unfolding in their communities • Prayers of praise and adoration, thanksgiving, confession and intercession, inviting us to join our hearts with theirs as we pray together 3. 4. Once again, during 2012, South Australia will support projects specifically relating to our partner churches. Brochures are available through the South Australia Synod Office or download your copy here (

Uniting World is funding a community development program, working with people in this area to make informed decisions on how to support themselves by using better farming practices. There are many children in this area and regular, quality schooling for all their children and teenagers is also a priority. For further information about our partner churches, please visit here.
